Description
Published by Rupert Hart-Davis, London, 1963, 1st UK Edition, D/w (slight wear), Nr. Fine. In 1960, the author spent six months in Nepal covering some 400 miles on foot, having only previously visited Nepal once forty years earlier. Although, at the age of 65, he found the travelling in Nepal arduous, he had previously been a member of both the 1922 and 1936 British Everest Expeditions, as well as a First-Class interpreter in his army days. His book is entertaining travel, a study of Gurkha social life and explores some of the problems of Nepal as an emerging Asian country.
