Aconcagua South Face

Fine.  An account of the successful French Expedition to climb the formidable South Face of Aconcagua in 1954.  The first half of the book covering the approaches and reconnaissance is written by Rene Ferlet (1920-1989), who led the expedition, and the second half by Guy Poulet (1924-2009) covering the assault and success on the mountain.  All of the six successful climbers on the expedition subsequently lost fingers and/or toes, except Robert Paragot.  Ferlet had originally intended to write the entire book, but illness prevented him from taking part in the successful ascent.  Well illustrated with black-and-white photographs.
