Story of the successful American Expedition in 1982 to Gongga Shan (Minya Konka), the highest mountain in Sichuan, China, by the leader of the expedition. The mountain had not been accessible to western mountaineers since the 1930’s, when the Americans Terris Moore and Richard Burdsall made the first ascent in 1932. Burdsall and fellow team member Arthur Emmons, with contributions from Moore and Jack Young produced the classic Men Against The Clouds about their ascent). The mountain had only been opened up to western mountaineers in 1980.
