Dunsheath and Baillie, both experienced mountaineers and adventurers, travelled overland, climbing Demavend (18,600 feet, Iran’s highest mountain) on their way to Kabul for an attempt on Mir Samir (19,880 feet) in the Hindu Kush. Dunsheath was the first non-Russian woman to climb Mt. Elbruz in the Caucasus in 1957.
