Published by Constable, London, 1993, 1st UK Edition, D/w, Fine.   Published in 1993 as part of the 40th Anniversary celebrations of the successful British first ascent of Everest in 1953, this photo-album is comprised of a fine collection of black-and-white illustrations, most not published before, by Alfred Gregory, who was the official photographer to the Expedition.  Jan Morris (who, as James Morris, was the Times correspondent on the Expedition) reflects in her foreword on Gregory’s exceptional skills as a photographer and of his human qualities as a fellow mountaineer.
