Description
Published by The Crowood Press, 1988, 1st UK Edition, D/w (slight wear at edges), Nr. Fine. Over a period of sixteen years, from 1970 to 1986, Messner climbed all fourteen of the 8,000 metre mountains in the world, starting with Nanga Parbat and finishing with Lhotse, becoming the first mountaineer to do so. His ascents were without oxygen, many solo, and many by new routes. In addition to his accounts of the climbs, he covers the history and routes on the eight-thousanders. Very well illustrated with colour and black-and-white photographs.
