Published by Macmillan & Bowes, Cambridge, 1896, 1st Edition, light foxing endpapers, bright original boards gilt decorated, Nr. Fine.    George Edward Wherry (1852-1928) was a British surgeon and mountaineer, and a keen and active member of the Alpine Club and of the Association of British Members of the Swiss Alpine Club (ABMSAC).  He published two books about his expeditions and experiences as a climber, the current volume and Notes from a Knapsack (1909).  The latter also touched on various other medical and scientific interests.  Wherry died in 1928 in Zermatt, Switzerland, where he is buried in the English Cemetery.
