Published by Granada, 1980, 1st Edition, D/w (in protective sleeve), Fine. The account of the 1978 American Women’s Himalayan Expedition, the first attempt by an all-women team on an 8000 metre peak. Blum, the leader of the expedition, had taken part in 15 expeditions including the first all-woman climb of Mount McKinley in 1970 and the 1976 American Bicentennial Expedition to Mount Everest. It saw both a successful ascent, by Vera Komarkova and Irene Miller plus 2 sherpas, and the loss of the second summit assault pair, Vera Watson and the British climber Alison Chadwick, who fell to their deaths two days later.
