Description

Published by David & Charles, Devon, 1970, 1st UK Edition, D/w, Fine.   A general description of climbing and walking in southeast England within an 80 mile radius of London.  In addition to the climbs on the Wealden sandstone outcrops, the author describes extensive walking on hill ridges such as the North and South Downs, coasteering on the chalk sea cliffs of Sussex and Kent and caving in man-made holes and tunnels. He also includes the exciting possibilities of the disused mine or quarry, caves, sea cliffs, statues, buildings, bridges, walls, kilns, etc – all within 80 miles of London. Of its time, but very readable and includes in the appendices brief descriptions of crags within 120 miles of London, including the near continent, and a bibliography.
