Published by American Management Association, New York, 2009, 1st US Edition, D/w (small tear top of front cover), Nr. Fine. The story of how Bo Parfet, an investment banker at J.P.Morgan, joined the exclusive club of those who have summited the highest mountains on each continent, often referred to as The Seven Summits. In fact, to be sure of having done them, he climbed eight mountains – this is because there is some debate over whether the Carstenz Pyramid (Puncak Jaya) in Indonesia or Mount Kosciuszko in Australia should be regarded as the summit for Australasia. Dick Bass (the first person to complete the Seven Summits) did so using Kosciuszko and Reinhold Messner’s list preferred Carstenz Pyramid. Parfet climbed both, along with those accepted by most for the other continents, namely Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Denali, Vinson Massif, Elbrus and Everest. He succeeded in just four years and has produced a gripping account of the challenges and incidents along the way.
