Description

Published by The Mountaineers, Seattle, 2001, 1st Edition under this title, D/w, Nr. Fine.   This is an update of the original volume by Gillman published in 1993 under the title Everest The Best Writing and Pictures from Seventy Years of Human Endeavour.   A fine large-format climbing anthology on Everest originally published for the 40th Anniversary of the first ascent in 1953, very well researched and lavishly illustrated with stunning photographs, and now with an updated list of the 1318 successful ascents to October 2000.  Comprises chapters giving first-person perspectives from the 1920s through to the publication date, including contributions by most, if not all, of the major names worldwide associated with the mountain.
