Published by Arlington Books, London, 1979, 1st UK Edition, Insc, D/w, Fine.   Habeler’s account of his and Reinhold Messner’s first oxygenless ascent of Everest in May 1978, some twenty-five years after Hillary and Tenzing’s first ascent.  They were members of the Austrian Alpine Club 1978 Everest Expedition led by Wolfgang Nairz, though they were the only members who climbed without oxygen.  Many commentators at the time, including expert scientists, believed that Everest without oxygen was impossible.
