Published by Hodder & Stoughton, 1991, 1st UK Edition, D/w, Fine. This is effectively a new edition of the original Mount Everest The Reconnaissance 1921, first published in 1922. This edition contains the core of the original eleven chapters by Howard-Bury and the six chapters by George Mallory, though with some editing, but lacks the original Preface, Introduction, the chapters on natural history and most of the appendices. However, useful and informative additions include a Biographical Introduction by the editor Marian Keaney and a section “From the 1920 Diary of Charles Howard-Bury” which sets the context and lead up to the Expedition.
