Description

Published by Little Brown and Company, 1993, 1st UK and US Edition, D/w, Fine.   A fine large-format climbing anthology on Everest published for the 40th Anniversary of the first ascent in 1953, very well researched and lavishly illustrated with stunning photographs, and with a complete list of the 485 successful attempts, as well as the 115 climbers who had died on the mountain, up to 1992.  Comprises chapters giving first-person perspectives from the 1920s through to the publication date, including contributions by most, if not all, of the major names worldwide associated with the mountain, plus a very useful bibliography. A very fine Everest anthology.
