The story of the 1975 South West Face of Everest Expedition, which succeeded in putting 4 climbers on the summit by this new route which had defeated 5 previous expeditions. This included the first British ascents of Everest by Doug Scott and Dougal Haston, followed by Pete Boardman and Pertemba. However, Mick Burke’s solo bid for the summit ended in tragedy as he failed to return in worsening weather.
