Published by George Allen & Unwin, London, 1966, 1st UK Edition, D/w (sealed in plastic leaving line across the jacket, small defects, some wear and small tears at edges), V.G.   The lavishly illustrated, large folio format, account of the American Mount Everest Expedition 1963, led by Norman Dyhrenfurth which put the first American, Jim Whittaker, accompanied by Nawang Gombu Sherpa, on the summit of Everest.  This expedition also saw the epic first ascent of the West Ridge of the mountain by Tom Hornbein and Willi Unsoeld, who then went on to descend via the South Col, hence also making the first traverse of Everest.  This volume is part of The Sierra Club Exhibit Format Books (Number 12 in the series).
