Published by Dennis Dobson, London, 1955, 1st Edition, Insc, slight bumping corners, slight staining boards, top edge foxed, D/w (foxed), Good.   Includes Author’s Signature stuck into front free endpaper.   Sir Robert Charles Evans (1918-1995) was a British mountaineer, surgeon, and educator.  He was deputy leader to Sir John Hunt of the successful 1953 British Mount Everest Expedition which made the first ascent of the mountain, putting Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing on the summit.  He was also the leader of the successful 1955 British Kangchenjunga Expedition which also made the first ascent of the mountain, with George Band and Joe Brown being the first to summit.  This volume consists of Evans’s sketches made while on the 1953 Expedition.
