Published by Oxford University Press, Toronto Canada, 1978, 1st Canadian Edition, D/w (slight nicks), Nr. Fine. Primarily a book of 86 early photographs of the Canadian Rockies by Byron Harmon, including an interesting biographical portrait and an appreciation. The photographs are selected from the Harmon collection of 6,500 negatives and plates, preserved by the work of his granddaughter, Carole Harmon. He settled in Banff in 1903 and became the first official photographer of the Alpine Club of Canada between 1906 and 1913, photographing many early camps and many ascents, notably the first ascent of Mount Robson in 1913 by Conrad Kain (guide), Albert McCarthy and William Foster.
