Published by Diadem Books, London, 1992, 1st UK Edition, D/w, Fine. Signed by the author on the half-title. Doug Scott (1941-2020) was an English mountaineer, noted for his first ascent of the South-West Face of Everest with Dougal Haston in 1975, who took part in 40 expeditions to the high mountains of Asia, completing some 30 first ascents. He was awarded only the third Piolet D’Or Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011 (after Walter Bonatti and Reinhold Messner). A fantastic large-format pictorial record of Scott’s expeditions over the years, from the Sahara and East Africa, to Canada, Alaska, the Soviet Union, Yosemite, Baffin Island and many others; though his main focus has always been on new routes and new peaks in lightweight style in the Greater Himalayan range. These have included Changabang, Everest, Kangchenjunga, Nuptse, Shivling and Shishapangma. Always a skilled photographer, Scott provides a comprehensive and stimulating record of his journey and his achievements.
