Emil Zsigmondy (1861-1885) was an Austrian mountaineer and physician, a leading alpinist in the years immediately following the ‘Golden Age’ of alpine exploration, and an early advocate of guideless mountaineering. This superbly produced volume is the first English translation of Zsigmondy’s classic Im Hochgebirge, published posthumously in 1889.
