Fine.   Gaston Rebuffat (1921-1985) was a French alpinist, mountain guide and author.  He is best known for being a member of the 1950 French Expedition to Annapurna 1 which succeeded in climbing the first 8,000 metre peak (the expedition was led by Maurice Herzog and included Louis Lachenal, Lionel Terray, Jean Couzy and Rebuffat), and for being the first person to climb all six of the great north faces in the Alps.  This volume is a very well illustrated history of climbing on the Matterhorn, including his own experiences on the mountain.  His books include Starlight and Storm: the ascent of six great north faces of the Alps (1956), Mont Blanc to Everest (1956), On Snow and Rock (1963) and The Mont Blanc Massif: The 100 Finest Routes (1975).
