Published by Century Hutchinson, London, 1986, 1st UK Edition, D/w, Fine.    Galen Rowell (1940-2002) was an accomplished American mountaineer, wilderness photographer, author and adventure photojournalist, who was tragically killed, along with his wife, in a plane crash in California in 2002.    Large format volume with the usual excellent colour photography from Rowell, one of the pre-eminent photographers of the outdoor world.  This volume “presents Rowell’s personal photographic ethic in inspiring and informative text and a stunning collection of eighty of his finest images”.  The main text is part autobiography and part a chronicle of his growth as a photographer, with a series of eight “Exhibits” which feature the stunning photographs, with a detailed accompanying feature on the story behind each of the photographs.
