In includes the formation of the mountains, the coming of traders, explorers, spies, surveyors, scientists and climbers including the stories of individuals from Marco Polo to Fanny Bullock Workman and to Hillary and Tenzing. Useful appendices include a timeline, peoples (tribes) of the mountains, national parks and a bibliography.
