Published by Hodder and Stoughton, (1951), 1st UK Edition, cloth a little dull, D/w (worn, with small pieces missing and small tears at bottom of front of wrapper), V.G.   The outstanding mountain explorer Eric Shipton (1907-1977) was HM Consul in Kashgar in Western China from 1940 to 1942.  During this time he continued to explore in the Karakoram and Pamirs, and made attempts on Muztagh Ata (with Bill Tilman), Chakragil and Bogdo Ola.
