Published by John Murray, 1935, Reprint, D/w (nicked and a little grubby), V.G. The account of the disastrous second German expedition of 1934 (the first was in 1932), led by Willy Merkl, on which 4 climbers (including Merkl himself and Willi Welzenbach) perished along with 6 porters. At the time, no 8000 metre peak had been climbed – Nanga Parbat was not climbed until 1953 (Herman Buhl, solo).
