Published by Victor Gollancz, London, 1986, 1st UK Edition, D/w, Nr. Fine. The first collection of essays from Jim Perrin (followed four years later by Yes, To Dance). These essays, that first appeared between 1968 and 1985, concentrate on Perrin’s two main themes of Men and Mountains – it is the people he meets, and often climbs with, who are for him the sport’s chief attraction, along with the landscapes he encounters, especially in Wales, where many of the essays are based. Hence, leading climbers feature, such as H.W. Tilman, Pat Littlejohn, Tom Patey, Al Harris, Jill Lawrence, Dougal Haston, Bill Murray, Joe Brown and Chris Bonington, along with commentary on the climbing scene of the day.
