Description
Published by Chapman & Hall, London, 1946, 1st UK Edition, No D/w, spine a little dull, V.G. Ben Humble (1903-1977) was a prolific author, photographer and noted Scottish climber, who was also a pioneer of Scottish Mountain Rescue. As a member of the Scottish Mountaineering Club, he lectured on mountain safety and was the compiler of accident statistics for Scotland for 30 years. He took thousands of black-and-white photographs while climbing throughout Scotland and this volume presents 75 of those he judged the most worthy, accompanied by his very readable stories of Scottish mountaineering in the inter-war years – a minor classic.
