Basically an instructional book from Gaston Rebuffat (1921-1985), pulling together everything he had learnt into one volume, profusely illustrated with mainly black-and-white photographs. Rebuffat was a renowned French alpinist, mountain guide, author and member of the French Expedition which made the first ascent of an 8,000 metre peak, Annapurna, in 1950.
