Description

Published by Victor Gollancz Ltd, London, 1972 (2nd Impression of 1971 1st UK Edition), D/w (slight wear edges), Nr. Fine.   This is a collection of poems, songs, essays and other writings of Dr. Tom Patey (1932-1970), legendary Scottish climber, mountaineer and writer. A leading climber of his day, he excelled on winter routes, mostly in Scotland and many solo, but also made the first ascents of the Muztagh Tower (7,273 metres) with Joe Brown in 1956 and Rakaposhi (7, 788 metres) with Mike Banks in 1958. Despite his climbing record, he is probably best known for his humorous writings, which were published posthumously in this volume after Patey was killed in an abseiling accident on The Maiden in Scotland in 1970.
