Description of travel and life in Switzerland in the nineteenth century by Symonds (1840-93) and his daughter (1869-1925), illustrated with 20 guarded and captioned colour illustrations by painter and illustrator J. Hardwicke Lewis. Symonds was a highly regarded poet and critic who travelled to Switzerland after becoming ill and the family spent the majority of their time in Davos.
