Frank Smythe (1900-1949) was an English mountaineer, prolific author, photographer and botanist. He is best known for new routes on the Brenva Face of Mont Blanc, his first ascent of Kamet (7,756 metres) in 1931 and for taking part in three Everest Expeditions in the 1930’s. This quarto volume is one of a series of photographic books from Smythe, published by A & C Black, with 51 monochrome plates from photographs by the author and a sketch-map. The photographs are all landscapes, with an accompanying text by Smythe, including some anecdotes of his time spent in the Welsh Hills, by which he means Snowdonia.
