Large format volume of biographies of women in the latter half of the nineteenth century who pioneered in ranching, exploring and writing in and around Yosemite. The portraits are assembled from libraries, newspaper files, letters, photographs and interviews by historian Shirley Sargent (1927-2004) who specialised in Yosemite and self-published most of her books under her Flying Spur Press banner.
