Description
Published by Aurum Press, London, 1990, 1st UK Edition, D/w, Fine. An interesting autobiography of George Patterson, confidant of the Dalai Lama, which tells of the religious mission which took him to Tibet and the part he played in Tibet’s struggle to withstand the Chinese Invasion. He arrived in Tibet as a missionary in 1946 and, after three years immersed in Tibetan life, was sent as their emissary over the Himalayas into India to warn Western governments of the impending Chinese Invasion. After the Invasion he was threatened with expulsion from India, exonerated, returned to Britain, and visited Tibet twice in later years. The book also tells the story of the plight of Tibet – a condemned nation once the Chinese invasion took its toll.
