Published by G.P. Abraham, 1906, 1st Edition, spine worn especially at top and bottom where small pieces missing, front board joint worn, Good only. Illustrated by 30 full-page monogravure illustrations, 10 pen-and-ink sketches and 11 outline drawings of the chief routes. This association copy previously owned by J.W. Puttrell with his bookplate and signature “J.W.Puttrell”, also owned later by Eric Byne with the inscription “E & D J Byne, 1940”. Puttrell was the undisputed ‘father’ of gritstone climbing and caving, with many new routes to his credit from the 1880’s onwards; Byne, in a later era from the 1930’s, pioneered many gritstone routes, wrote and edited guidebooks to the Peak District and co-authored “High Peak” in 1966 with Geoffrey Sutton.
