Published by David & Charles, Devon, 1992/1994, Revised & Reprint of 1988 1st Edition, D/w, Fine.   Martin Moran (1955-2019) was a British Mountain Guide who was the first climber to complete all 277 Scottish Munros (peaks over 3,000 feet) in a single winter season in 1984/5, writing the acclaimed The Munros in Winter about the experience. This volume contains background information on climate, weather and snow conditions, historical appraisals of the development of winter mountaineering over the century and instructional advice on skills and techniques, complemented throughout by the author’s personal narratives.  Martin disappeared, presumed avalanched, while leading an expedition to climb Nanda Devi East in the Indian Garhwal Himalaya in May 2019.
