Description

Published by Stackpole Books, Pennsylvania, 1991, 1st US Edition, D/w, Fine.   As a 17-year old, Hugh Herr was already one of the world’s foremost rock climbers. However, in 1982 Hugh and a companion became lost on Mount Washington in a vicious winter storm.  They struggled through the wilderness for three days but sadly frostbite had taken its toll and he had to have both his lower legs amputated.  With the same determination that had driven him to climb some of America’s hardest climbs, he fought back to become an even better climber, despite having to use artificial legs.  The author, Alison Osius, was the senior editor of Climbing Magazine, had climbed worldwide and was a member of the US Climbing Team.
