Description
Published by Readers Union Hutchinson, London, 1954, slight marks to boards, No D/w, V.G. Fosco Maraini was an Italian anthropologist, photographer, linguist, scholar and mountaineer who journeyed extensively in the Far East. This well illustrated account of the author’s journey through Tibet in 1948, and his encounters with the people of Tibet, from princesses to peasants, provides one of the last accounts to be published while the traditional Tibetan feudal society still existed, as the Chinese invaded in 1950, shortly after the book was completed.
