Published by Jonathan Cape, London, 1993, Reprint of 1993 1st UK Edition, D/w, Fine.   Signed by the author on the title page “Mike Stroud October 1994”.  Mike Stroud’s account of his and Ranulph Fiennes’s first coast-to-coast crossing of Antarctica, from the Weddell Sea to the Ross Ice Shelf, unsupported by men, animals or machines.  The epic crossing took 95 days over the 1992/1993 winter, with each setting out pulling almost 500 lb sledges and enduring windchill temperatures of minus 85 degrees celsius.
