Frank Smythe (1900-1949) was an English mountaineer, prolific author, photographer and botanist. He is best known for new routes on the Brenva Face of Mont Blanc, his first ascent of Kamet (7,756 metres) in 1931 and for taking part in three Everest Expeditions in the 1930’s. This quarto volume is one of a series of photographic books from Smythe, published by A & C Black, with 48 monochrome plates and 8 colour plates from photographs by the author. They cover all aspects of Switzerland in winter and have detailed captions.
