Published by George Virtue London, 1836, 1st Edition, 2 volumes, half calf binding with some rubbing and wear, raised bands, marbled edges and endpapers, some light foxing edges but heavy on the two engraved titles in each volume, good sound bindings, overall V.G.   Illustrated throughout with one hundred and six plates taken from views by W. H. Bartlett (1809-1854), including one folding map.  The book depicts various Swiss landscapes and scenes, both natural and architectural, rendered by Bartlett’s detailed steel engravings.  Bartlett was a British artist, best known for the numerous volumes featuring his steel engravings.
