Frank Smythe (1900-1949) was an English mountaineer, prolific author, photographer and botanist. This volume is autobiographical telling the how and why of Smythe’s interests in mountains and mountaineering, and covering some twenty years of the author’s climbing from new routes in the Alps and the Dolomites to Kangchenjunga, his first ascent of Kamet, and his involvement with the three Everest expeditions of 1933, 1936 and 1938. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs.
