Witherby, London, 1927, 1st UK Edition, Insc, Label, foxing prelims and edges, slight bumps to edges of boards, bright spine, copiously illustrated with 155 black-and-white photographs by the author, V.G.    Ernest Arthur Gardner (1878-1972) was an English photographer, writer and art historian.  Though much of his photography related to his specialism in medieval  sculpture and architecture, where his works have become standard academic textbooks, he also published several well illustrated works on the mountains, including The Peaks, Lochs and Coasts of the Western Highlands (1924) and Sun, Cloud and Snow in the Western Highlands (1933).
