Galen Rowell (1940-2002) was an accomplished American mountaineer, wilderness photographer, author and adventure photojournalist, who was tragically killed, along with his wife, in a plane crash in California in 2002. The Art of Adventure is a retrospective of the almost twenty years since Galen Rowell gave up his auto-shop business and embarked on a life of wilderness adventure and exploration in the mountains, armed with a trusty camera. His adventures have taken him to most Himalayan countries, Kenya, Tanzania, Chile, Argentina, the U.K., Norway, Spain and large areas of North and Central America, amongst other places, all superbly illustrated with Rowell’s outstanding photographs.
