Description
Published by Sigma Leisure, Cheshire, 1999, 1st UK Edition, D/w, Fine. Harry Griffin (1911 – 2004) was a British journalist, author and mountaineer, who lived in and had a particular affinity with The Lake District. His ‘Lakeland Country Diary’ column in The Guardian ran for 53 years, and he inspired, via his writings, the rebirth of interest in the Bob Graham Round. This volume of autobiography and historical record covers The Coniston Tigers, one of the first Lake District climbing clubs, rock climbing in the 1930’s and onwards with some of the leading climbers of the day, and mountaineering adventures further afield in Scotland and the Alps.
