Published by Baton Wicks, London, 2003, Reprint of 1st UK Edition (2002), D/w, Fine.   Bill Murray’s excellent autobiography which was largely completed before his death in 1996, then further edited by his widow, Anne, prior to publication.  Murray was a pioneer Scottish climber, writer, Himalayan explorer and environmentalist. He wrote two classic books Mountaineering in Scotland (1947) and Undiscovered Scotland (1951) which inspired a new post-war generation of climbers, and took part in three exploratory Expeditions in the Himalayas (including his lightweight 1950 trip which resulted in the book The Scottish Himalayan Expedition (1951), and the 1951 Everest Reconnaissance Expedition with Shipton).  He was also a prisoner-of-war, survived a major alpine accident in 1947 in the Ecrins in which he and Michael Ward were injured and John Barford, the BMC Secretary, was killed, before going on to become involved in environmental debates and proposals for Scotland.
