Published by Simon & Schuster, Australia, 1989, 1st Australasia Edition, D/w, Nr. Fine. Large format, very well illustrated, account of the eleven modern-day adventurers who set off in early 1988 in a very small ship from Sydney Harbour to sail to Antarctica, trek 150 miles overland and to reach the summit of the unclimbed Mt Minto, the highest peak in the Admiralty Range. Storms at sea, blizzards on land and the limited time available before being trapped by the frozen Ross Sea all proved to be significant challenges – Lincoln Hall (1955 – 2012) captures those challenges, plus the euphoria and heart-break involved in this expedition, in a very well written account of exploration and travel in Antarctica.
