Published by Harper & Row, San Francisco, 1978, 1st English Language Edition, D/w (a little worn at edges and spine faded), V.G.   Yuichiro Miura is a Japanese speed skier and alpinist who, in 1970, became the first person to ski on Everest.  He used a parachute to slow his descent from the South Col, skied down nearly 6,600 vertical feet before falling another 1,300 feet, stopping just short of the bergschrund at the upper reaches of the Khumbu Glacier.  Amongst many other alpine and skiing achievements in his long life, Miura summited Everest 3 times, including becoming the oldest man to do so in 2013 at the age of 80.  This book, well illustrated with colour and black-and-white photos, is the story of his Everest ski adventure, later made into an award winning 1975 film, also titled The Man Who Skied down Everest.
