Published by David & Charles, 1991/1994, Reprint of 1988 1st Edition, Insc, D/w, Fine. This is the account by Martin Moran (1955-2019) of the first ever completion of all 277 Munros in Winter in a single season in 1984/5, which was also the fastest-ever completion in any season. Covering 1,030 miles of walking and skiing, plus 410,000 feet of ascent, Martin’s undertaking also raised over £20,000 for the third-world charity, Intermediate Technology. Martin tells of the trials and tribulations on the way to success, but also gives practical advice on enjoying, and surviving, Britain’s most challenging peaks, with a wealth of information on the technical problems, route-planning, preparation and back-up involved in such an undertaking. Martin was a British Mountain Guide who disappeared, presumed avalanched, while leading an expedition to climb Nanda Devi East in the Indian Garhwal Himalaya in May 2019.
