Published by Cassell & Co, London, 1953, 1st UK Edition, D/w (slight wear edges, small piece missing top of spine), Nr. Fine.    Tom Weir (1914-2006) was a Scottish climber, author and broadcaster, who was a member of the 1950 Scottish Himalayan Expedition, the first post-war Himalayan expedition.  Later in life, in 2000, he was awarded the inaugural John Muir Lifetime Achievement Award by the John Muir Trust in recognition of his environmental work.  This volume tells the story of that 1950 Scottish Himalayan Expedition, undertaken by the small team of Weir, Douglas Scott (not, as some assume, Doug Scott who was 11 at the time!), Tom MacKinnon and W.H. (Bill) Murray, all members of the Scottish Mountaineering Club (S.M.C.).  They spent four months exploring and climbing in the Garhwal and Almora districts, including the Rishi Gorge, Nanda Devi, the Girthi, Panch Chuli and Berthartoli.
