Don Munday and his wife Phyllis made numerous exploratory trips in the Coast Range of British Columbia in the 1920’s and 1930’s and ‘discovered’ what was known to them as The Mystery Mountain, later named Mt. Waddington, the highest peak in the Coast Range and the third highest in British Columbia at 13,200 feet. Though the Mundays climbed the lower summit in 1928, they deemed the main summit too risky. Mt. Waddington is an impressive and technical mountain to climb and, following a number of unsuccessful attempts in 1934 and 1935, the first ascent was achieved by Fritz Weissner and Bill House in 1936. The book documents the Mundays’ challenges and adventures in the Coast Range, mainly on Mt. Waddington but also on other peaks.
